Real Time 3D Face Pose Discrimination Based On Active IR Illumination

چکیده
In this paper, we introduce a new approach for realtime 3D face pose discrimination based on active IR illumination from a monocular view of the camera. Under the IR illumination; the pupils appear bright. We develop algorithms for efficient and robust detection and tracking pupils in real time. Based on the geometric distortions of pupils under different face orientations, an eigen eye feature space is built based on training data that captures the relationship between 3D face orientation and the geometric features of the pupils. The 3D face pose for an input query image is subsequently classified using the eigen eye feature space. In this paper, we present a new model-based approach. Our approach determines 3D face pose from a monocular view of the face. Our study shows that there exists a direct correlation between 3D face pose and the geometric properties of pupils such as pupils size, inter-pupil distance, and pupils shape. These relationships are exploited to classify 3D face poses.

3D Face pose estimation and tracking from a monocular camera
In this paper, we describe a new approach for estimating and tracking three-dimensional (3D) pose of a human face from the face images obtained from a single monocular view with full perspective projection. We assume that the shape of a 3D face can be approximated by an ellipse and that the aspect ratio of 3D face ellipse is given. Given a monocular image of a face, we ®rst perform an ellipse d...

We present a fast and robust iterative method for interpreting face images under non-uniform lighting conditions by using a fitting algorithm which utilizes an illumination-based 3D active appearance model in order to fit a face model to an input face image. Our method is based on improving the Jacobian each iteration using the parameters of lighting that have been estimated in preceding iterat...

متن کاملPose Invariant Face Recognition Under Arbitrary Illumination Based on 3D Face Reconstruction
Pose and illumination changes from picture to picture are two main barriers toward full automatic face recognition. In this paper, a novel method to handle both pose and lighting condition simultaneously is proposed, which calibrates the pose and lighting condition to a pre-set reference condition through an illumination invariant 3D face reconstruction. First, some located facial landmarks and...
